Native of Phoenix, Arizona. Lela Cartwright Hon was born in Phoenix where her family had homesteaded since 1879. She attended school in the Cartwright and Phoenix Union High School Districts. After attending the Gregg Business School, she worked for the State Tax Commission and the Livestock Sanitary Board. Although she resided in Tucson and Flagstaff while raising her family, she returned to the Cartwright School District and served as Personnel Secretary for many years...
